First, decide who you'll be...

You can create a character from any fantasy world. Whether they’re inspired by another LARP, a tabletop game, a book, a movie, or a video game, or your own creative imagination, that’s great! The biggest rule is that the character must be from a fantasy setting and they’re entirely your own original creation.

Then you'll decide what camp to join!

Silver, The Creator of All Things.

Those with a noble heart, hear the call of the Silver Dragon! Followers of the Silver Way value chivalry, truth and beauty. They seek justice and show mercy. Knights and nobles are often found here but so too are any that seek the light. Silver aspects are...

Red, The Driving Force of the Eternal Cycle

The Red Dragon calls to those who crave action, glory, and honor. Its champions are bound by their bold deeds, unshakable courage, and relentless drive to create and achieve. But beyond the battlefield and the forge, the Red Camp values loyalty to one’s kin—family, whether by blood or bond, is the heart that fuels their fire. Together, they fight, build, and thrive. Red aspects are...

Green, Keeper & Protector of the Eternal Cycle

The Green Avatar is the protector of all things natural. Both life and death are valued equally. Followers of the Green Dragon are keepers of the natural world, celebrating those that nurture new life, as well as those that end it.

Blue, the Liberator

The Blue Dragon calls to you, asks you to throw off the chains of your past life, your debts and obligations, to strike out towards a bold new horizon and live life to the fullest! Those who are called to the sea, or are gripped by wanderlust, often find themselves here. Not to mention those who have escaped tyranny or seek a new beginning.

Shadow, the end of all things.

Followers of the Shadow Dragon embrace the hidden, terrible truths found in darkness. They seek power and knowledge at any cost, valuing strength in all forms. Everything that lives must die, everything that begins must end. This certainty drives them to claim victory by any means. Shadow aspects are...

Lastly, learn how to play!

The Rulebook

DrachenFest may be adult make believe, but it has a few rules. Want to cast spells, do war stuff, wear armor, or get extra HP? Want to play the wargame? Read the Rulebook here!

The Blog

The Blog also has a lot of helpful advice. The Wizard's desk is a blog space where our staff and creative leads offer their insight and experience on engaging with DrachenFest US! We're excited to share what we can, so pull up a seat!

It's about Community.

We’re building a welcoming, inclusive community where everyone feels safe and respected. Real world discrimination of any kind- racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism- has no place here. Gaming has traditionally excluded marginalized groups, especially people of color, and we’re committed to changing that.

We don’t expect you to know every modern social convention, just to listen and treat others as they wish to be treated. If harm occurs and your stated boundaries are ignored, report it- we can’t fix what we don’t know. A small, diverse team handles reports discreetly and fairly, focusing on accountability and growth, not shame. Repeated or blatant harm will result in a disinvitation from the event.

This is a space for fantasy and creativity, free from real-world stereotypes or harmful "isms." Roleplay that reinforces ideas like "all orcs are savages" or "Dark Elves are inherently evil" is not welcome here, as these tropes often reflect real-world prejudices. However, broader fantasy traits like "all dwarves love crafting" are fine. And to be clear—blackface drow are never acceptable. If you’re unsure about your concept, feel free to reach out! We’re happy to help you adapt it.

Ultimately, this space is about connection and storytelling. Respect the space, respect each other, and we’ll create magic. Cross the line, and you’ll lose the privilege to stay.
